How anonymous are Proxy sites?

Proxies aren’t as anonymous as you might think; they don’t completely hide what you have been doing so that there is no evidence of what you have browsed. This is because proxy webmasters have logs which have all of the websites that you have browsed using your proxy, meaning that they can see what you have been doing. However most proxy webmasters never look at these logs and will never pass them onto another third party, but this is something you should be aware of in case you do something illegal as you may still be tracked. This is why you should never use proxies for illegal activities. However if you are using proxies at school to bypass a block which they have implemented on such sites as Facebook or Myspace then you don’t have anything to hide and you don’t need to worry about such logs.
