What is a Web Based Proxy?

A web-based proxy is a website using a script such as Glype, Phproxy or Zelune which allows you to bypass your internet provider thus allowing you to access sites that are blocked such as Facebook and Myspace even though they are blocked by your school/workplace etc.

All you have to do is find a web based proxy (many can be found on the WebEvader list). Then you type the address of the website you want to visit in the URL box provided and press enter. While you are using the free proxy site you are protected and your *real* IP address is not being logged, instead the IP address of the websites server is being logged meaning that they don’t know what you are doing. This will stop malicious viruses and hackers accessing your computer and wreaking havoc on it.

It will also stop websites from recording your browsing habits which will lead to you being bombarded by spam and popups while you browse the internet. Many web-based proxies not give you the ability to remove the ads from the websites you are visiting and allow you to change the cookie settings so that you aren’t being cached some even give you the possibility to change what browser it looks like you are using while you use a proxy. Nowadays the best proxy script to use is either Glype or Phproxy however new scripts such as Phphantom and Proxono are being developed which are using a lightweight script, increasing site loading speed however even though these new scripts sound great there won’t be able to match the number of Glype and Phproxy templates already out there at the moment.
At the WebEvader list all of the free proxy sites on the proxy list are sorted into their different proxy scripts you can see the proxies sorted by their scripts on the Categories page.
